Accreditation Requirements

The accreditation criteria have been kept broad and sufficiently general to permit continued experimentation and development. Accreditation is granted to both estate agents and estate agencies (which employ accredited agents) that meet prescribed minimum criteria. Both the accredited agents and key decision-making staff of accredited agencies (ie. directors or CEO of agencies) will be responsible for maintaining professional standards and conduct as required under the accreditation scheme. The cost for agent accreditation is $50 (24 months). With effect from 1 May 10, the cost of accreditation is $60 for 24 months (inclusive of GST).  The criteria for accreditation are given below:

Accredited Agents/Salespersons

  • With effect from 2011, accreditation shall only be granted to registered estate agents under the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA);
  • The agent must have a relevant degree or diploma from a recognised university or institution in real estate studies approved by MND and/or IRAS; or
  • The agent must have passed the CEHA examination, or REAC (passed before 1996) or Realtors Course (passed before 1996). [CEHA stands for Common Examination for House Agents; REAC stands for Real Estate Agency Course conducted by the SISV; Realtors Course stands for Association of Singapore Realtors Course conducted by the former ASR]; or
  • The agent has obtained the Certificate in Real Estate Marketing from Ngee Ann Polytechnic; or
  • Common Examination for Salesperson (CES) or equivalent for those who wish to be Accredited Salespersons.
  • With effect from 8 May 2010, holders of Pre-CEHA certificate or Internal Course can be given provisional accreditation until 31 Dec 2010 subject to passing an approved industry examination.

Re-accreditation

Accredited agents applying for re-accreditation are required to be active in continuing estate agency education and training and maintain a high level of involvement in estate agency activities. Accredited agents/salespersons must meet the requirements for accreditation for the renewal of accreditation. The cost of re-accreditation is $30 (24 months). With effect from 1 May 10, the cost of re-accreditation for a 24 month period is $40 inclusive of GST.
